After our self-love talk, we moved onto yoga. We left Willow in the other room, as the poor thing was in a bad state. But before we knew it, Garth had carried her back to the cabin and Savannah decided she, too, would stay behind to look after her. Hudson, Flynn, and I were officially kicked out of the yoga session after Garth strolled in wearing Willow’s red shiny tights and ready to take on downward dog. Poor Willow’s stretched yoga pants would never be the same as Garth was a tall, well-built young man, and the legs of her pants only reached his calves. Oh Lord, it was too much for our little hearts to take and continue beating. He had embraced self-love in a way I admired, but then took it above and beyond anything I had ever witnessed.

While he finished his session, we all decided to grab an early lunch. After, the boys waited around for us to finish packing our bags. Once we got our friends loaded into the cars, Flynn helped me place our suitcases into Willow’s red Prius. As I closed the trunk, I had to ask, “Do you regret coming here now?”

He smiled down at me. “Maybe a little, but seeing you was worth it. The hangover, the beautiful class, and… witnessing my best friend in super tight Lycra.” He finished before pulling me close. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his mouth down towards me.

“You’re so cheesy,” I said, right before I kissed those luscious lips of his. A throat cleared behind me and I reluctantly pulled my mouth from Flynn’s.

“Sorry to interrupt.” She so wasn’t.

“Hey, Mom.” Stepping away from Flynn, I turned to face her.

“I just wanted to thank you for coming, darling. And of course even though it was an inappropriate time to meet, all the same it was a pleasure to make your acquaintance, young man. My daughter had previously told me nothing about you, so you can imagine my surprise.”

“The pleasure was all mine, ma’am. I’m sorry to crash your retreat. Alyssa had nothing to do with me showing up, I just missed her is all.”

I watched my mother’s eyes soften. Oh, he was good! Flynn’s charm had her hook, line, and sinker.

“Well, I guess all can be forgiven.” She stepped forward and wrapped me in a hug that was almost suffocating. She didn’t know the word “boundaries” well. Never did. Heck, growing up I couldn’t even shower without her coming in and planting herself on the bathtub to have a deep and meaningful discussion with me. Still, she was my mother and I loved her weirdness and everything else.

“Okay, have a safe trip home and I’ll see you when I get back from my tour. I still have sixteen workshops to run around the country,” she stated as she let me go ”And of course I would love to have you over for dinner when I return, Flynn.”

“I would love nothing more Ms. Anders.”

“Please, it’s just Teresa.
